The 2018 Vargo Family Musical Christmas Card is here!

This year, we present an EP of three new original holiday tunes: "Decorations," "Perfect Snowflake," and "A Winter's Blessing."

The first track written and recorded was "Perfect Snowflake." It was written in the vein of classic "lonely at Christmas" songs, from "Blue Christmas" to The Pretenders' "2000 Miles." Paisley and I both recorded vocals for the song - and when I played it for my wife Cindi, her immediate response was: "It's too sad for an 8-year-old to sing! You'd better write a happy two minute pop song NOW!!!" Well, I'm still including Paisley's track, but I heeded my wife's words (like a good husband would) and headed back to the studio.

The result was the lead track on this collection, "Decorations." It's happy, it's a pop song, and it's roughly two minutes. Warning: Listening may result in an INSTANT CHRISTMAS DANCE PARTY! (We hope...)

"A Winter's Blessing" is an acoustic number that I recorded in the wee hours of the morning, adapted from a traditional Scottish blessing that I love. The words seemed very apropos for these times.

This is something our family has been doing since my son Julian was five years old, waaaaaay back in 2008. It started with a simple song of Julian's that we wanted to get out to a few family members, friends and his Kindergarten classmates at the time. A decade later, we are amazed and honored that our holiday songs have been streamed and downloaded thousands of times from all over the world. It truly is a blessing for us to be able to share our love of music and bring our little vision of the Christmas spirit to you.
